Planning Commission Minutes

MEETING MINUTES: April 17, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by Chairman Taber

Present: Casey, Houthoofd, Huntley, Taber. Excused Matthews
No members of the public in attendance.

Motion by Casey supported by Huntley to approve the Agenda. Ayes Unanimous. Motion carried.

Motion by Huntley supported by Houthoofd to Approve the minutes of the January 17, 2007 meeting with spelling corrections. Ayes unanimous. Motion carried.

Correspondence:
Received from City of Tawas City: Copy of Community Master Plan Update for The City Of Tawas City.
Received from Oscoda Township: Copy of Oscoda Township’s Amendment to its Five Year Master Recreation Plan adopted February 2006.

Old Business:

Report of the County Commissioner Representative:
No Report

Parks and Recreation Report:
Casey provided an update on the duties and history of the County Parks and Recreation Board.

Airport Advisory Committee:
No Report

New Business:
Taber noted that the bylaws would need to be revised due to the action of the County Commissioners setting the Planning Commission membership at 5 and necessitating a change in the quorum requirements. The members concluded that the by-laws would be reviewed and discussed/modified at the next meeting

Comments from Planning Commission Members:
There was considerable discussion from the members as to the correspondence received from Tawas City and Oscoda Township and how to review it. Taber noted that typically in the past these items would be read through at the meeting and considered to be reviewed since the changes in State Law now render these responsibilities to the Townships and eliminates any over site other than review by the County Planning Commission. Houthoofd stated that he did not feel this was sufficient for himself to consider these items reviewed.

Motion by Casey, supported by Huntley to approve Per Diems and Mileage for those in attendance. Roll call vote was unanimous, motion carried.

Motion by Huntley, supported by Houthoofd to adjourn the meeting at 8 p.m. Ayes unanimous. Motion carried.
